Tottenham star Pedro Porro has been one of Spain’s best players at the 2026 World Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur have wasted no time in rebuilding their squad this summer. The North Londoners have been one of the busiest clubs across Europe so far this transfer window, signing as many as six players.
We have spent £237m on six new additions, but one of the most important pieces of business they have done is tying down the future of a key player. Pedro Porro extended his contract with Tottenham until 2031 just ahead of the World Cup amid rising interest in him.
After starting the World Cup on the bench, the Spurs right-back forced himself into Spain’s first XI and has impressed at the knockout stages. The 26-year-old has delivered some eye-catching displays, including in Spain’s 2-0 victory over France in the semi-finals earlier this week, where he scored the second goal. Pedro Porro has been a key cog in La Roja’s backline that has conceded just one goal in seven games at the tournament.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, senior figures at Barcelona have taken note of Pedro Porro’s performances at the World Cup.
The right-back has netted twice in five games in the showpiece event, highlighting the attacking output that has become such a recognisable part of his game. His connection with Lamine Yamal on the right flank has also stood out, destabilising defences with their movement, pace, technical ability and link-up play. This is one of the reasons which has led to Barcelona keeping close tabs on Porro.
The Catalan giants have their right-back department sorted out. Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Hector Fort are the options currently at Hansi Flick’s disposal, which is why Porro isn’t really needed at Nou Camp. However, if Flick is seeking an offensive-minded player to revolutionise the right flank, Porro would fit that bill perfectly.
From Tottenham’s perspective, there is no panic. This is purely because the defender has recently penned fresh terms until 2031, with an option to extend for another year. Porro’s future in N17 is secured, with the Spanish international now placed as one of the highest earners at the club.
While the 26-year-old remains focused on guiding his nation to the World Cup trophy at the moment, Porro recently confessed that he feels very well taken care of at Spurs and wants to continue giving his best.
