Arsenal have made contacts with the agents of RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande over the last few days, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Diomande faces an uncertain future despite Leipzig wanting to retain his services for one more season.
The 19-year-old has rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting young wingers in European football.
He announced himself in spectacular fashion last season, registering 13 goals and nine assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpool were among the clubs most eager to sign the explosive youngster, particularly after the departure of Mohamed Salah.
The Merseyside outfit were even prepared to offer a package worth around €100 million (£86.8m) to secure his signature.
Arsenal unlikely to sign Yan Diomande
Reports last month suggested that Diomande would favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain over Liverpool if he leaves Leipzig this summer.
The Ivory Coast international is capable of playing on either flank but has produced his best football when operating from the right wing.
That is precisely where Arsenal already possess two high-quality options in Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke.
Manager Mikel Arteta is prioritising the recruitment of a marquee left winger following the departure of Leandro Trossard.
Gabriel Martinelli is also expected to leave, while Christos Tzolis edges closer to completing his move from Club Brugge to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal had also identified Morgan Rogers as a dream signing, but the Aston Villa forward has reportedly chosen Chelsea despite the Blues missing out on European football next season.
It remains to be seen who Arsenal target next but a move for Diomande seems very unlikely.
