Washington Commanders quarterbackJayden Daniels wasn’t even suited up for the game, andPatrick Mahomes still managed to completely steal his attention.
Netflix’s “Quarterback” dropped its third season on July 14, and buried in the footage from Washington’s Week 8 matchup with Kansas City Chiefs last season is a moment that says more about Mahomes’ pull on the league than any highlight reel could.
Jayden Daniels delivers blunt verdict on Patrick Mahomes’ play
Daniels had to sit out that Monday night game with an injury, so he was just watching from the sideline mic’d up while Marcus Mariota ran the offense in a 28-7 blowout loss. As Mahomes completely took over the game, throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns, the cameras caught Daniels acting less like an opposing quarterback and more like a fan with front-row seats.

“Let me go watch Mr. Mahomes throw the football,” Danielstold a teammate early on, walking closer to the field to get a better look. It only got funnier from there. After Mahomes escaped a crazy pass rush and somehow threw a first down, Daniels couldn’t believe it: “How do you find that? He just made up some s—.”
Then, when Mahomes hit Travis Kelce for a touchdown, Daniels said, “Man, I wish I was playing this game. I’m trying to take this off the list.”
By the time Mahomes was done pulling off ridiculous plays, Daniels just totally gave up trying to act cool.
“Oh, bro, I’m glazing,” he told a teammate. “He good, bro.”
“I’m glazing. He good, bro.”

Daniels wasn’t shy about it in his one-on-one interview for the show either, doubling down on the respect without any irony. “I appreciate… just great QB play,” he said. “It’s an art.”
That’s just who Daniels is. He’s shown that exact same respect to guys like Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow after past games, treating elite quarterback play like something worth appreciating even when it happens against his own team.
Ironically, neither quarterback ended up having the year they wanted. Danielsbattled a brutal string of injuries that completely derailed his sophomore season, while Mahomes’ year was cut short by a torn ACL and LCL. It was just an awesome moment of one quarterback watching another do ridiculous things on the field.
