After a major 2026 offseason change, Luka Doncic is happy and excited to play next NBA season with a new group around him.
No other player within the Los Angeles Lakers is more compelled to move forward into their future than Luka Doncic.
After a series of major moves and key free-agency signings executed by the LA franchise's leadership this offseason, the Slovenian superstar is simply looking forward to playing next NBA season.
"I think we have a really good team. I'm very excited to start the next season," Doncic told Rich Lerner in an interview for Golf Channel.
"Obviously, last season didn't end how we wanted, so we're excited for the new season."

The Los Angeles Lakers came out with arguably the most active offseason of all 30 teams this year. After securing their biggest priority by retaining Austin Reaves to a four-year, $180 million max extension, Rob Pelinka and the rest of the franchise's front office landed several more transactions to build a brand-new Lakers team.
The Lakers addressed their frontcourt future by acquiring Walker Kessler from the Jazz on a four-year, $130 million sign-and-trade agreement. They ultimately strengthened their depth by signing Quentin Grimes (four years, $60 million), Sandro Mamukelashvili (four years, $52 million), and Collin Sexton (two years, $19.2 million).
Moreover, Los Angeles also added affordable depth pieces, bringing in Ziaire Williams on a one-year, $3 million deal and Kevon Looney via a one-year, $3.88 million contract.
Despite the major departures of LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, Luke Kennard, and Jaxson Hayes, Doncic expressing his confidence and satisfaction with the new group around him should give the LA plenty of optimism heading into next year.
Following a breakout 2025-26 season that was cut short by hamstring complications that kept him out of the entire NBA Playoffs, Doncic will definitely be on a mission to run it back with the Lakers.
