Arsenal transfer news## Arsenal are continuing their work in the transfer window as the World Cup concludes

05:00, 19 Jul 2026

Arsenal are pressing ahead with their transfer business as one left-winger appears destined for north London.

Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier have already completed permanent moves, with Christos Tzolis moving swiftly to become the Gunners' third signing of the summer. Mikel Arteta has plans to successfully retain their Premier League crown and is also set to welcome back players representing their nations at the World Cup.

David Raya, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi are the three Gunners left in the tournament, as Spain prepare to face Argentina in the final on Sunday night. Attention in north London has been on the transfer window, but Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers won't be bound for the Emirates Stadium. Here, football.london has the latest surrounding the red side of north London.

Morgan Rogers picks Chelsea

Arsenal have been dealt a significant blow with the Athletic revealing that Chelsea have struck a £117million deal for Rogers. Xabi Alonso is said to have been instrumental in convincing the 23-year-old to head to west London rather than north London.

Despite Arsenal's interest, Rogers made Stamford Bridge his preferred destination. A six-year contract, with the option of an additional 12 months, has been offered to the former Manchester City starlet.

A medical is set for Monday after the conclusion of the World Cup. It's a record signing for Chelsea and tops the British record fee of £116m that City paid for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.

£34m deadline passes

Serhou Guirassy has been on Arsenal's radar for a while thanks to his performances for Borussia Dortmund. However, his £34m release clause has reportedly lapsed, leaving the Gunners without the option to sign him on a reduced fee.

It is understood that Guirassy had a clause in his contract that meant he could leave Dortmund for just £34m (€40m), but this ran out on July 15. This means that should Arsenal proceed with a move for the striker, then they may be forced to pay considerably more.

Arteta has already lined up Tzolis following Leandro Trossard's departure to Besiktas. Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are Arsenal's current striking options, with Jesus also being linked with a move away.

Thousands of Arsenal fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.
