Cam Skattebo can’t quite stick landing on backflip during Fanatics Fest

New York Giants running back and former Sun Devil Cam Skattebo’s flashy attempt to show off his recovery from leg injuries didn’t exactly go as planned during Fanatics Fest in New York City on Saturday.

During a WWE-style entrance, Skattebo showed off his recovery from a dislocated right ankle, an open tibia fracture and a ruptured deltoid ligament he sustained on his leg last season. Skattebo showed off his excitement with a backflip, a celebration he did during games last season. Unfortunately for Skattebo, he did not stick the landing and awkwardly fell, giving Giants fans a scare.

I can’t even imagine John Harbaughs reaction to seeing this LOL pic.twitter.com/hCfiCvwCxV

While Skattebo got up from the fall, fans and football writers online weren’t exactly excited about his celebration attempt, especially with Giants training camp beginning on July 28 for the full roster.

The reax to Cam Skattebo’s backflip at Fanatics Fest is absurd given he did one TWO MONTHS AGO at the Brian Burns celebrity softball.

But Skattebo was practicing as spring ended. His leg/ankle is pretty much healed. I wouldn’t want Skatt doing it, but ignoring all else is dumb.

If I’m John Harbaugh and the Giants, I fine Skattebo. So season-risking reckless.

I actually just thought of a great idea: Cam Skattebo stops doing backflips

The failed backflip wasn’t the only display of athleticism Skattebo tried during the event, as he was also seen shooting hoops, kicking field goals, scoring goals and more.

Skattebo has been seen at several events across the sports and entertainment world over the past year, including UFC 322, “Monday Night Raw” and Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals.

Skattebo is looking to build off the success he saw in his abbreviated rookie campaign, where he rushed for over 400 yards and scored seven touchdowns in eight games played. The second-year running back said at a Giants town hallevent in May he expects to play 17 games and rush for 2,000 yards this season.
