Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal enter Diomande race; Rogers set for Chelsea medical; Man Utd bid; Liverpool latest

Top targets: Julian Alvarez, Morgan Rogers, Yan Diomande

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United are all stepping up the pursuit of respective targets with the transfer window well underway. The news of the day comes from west London, where Chelsea stunned the rest of the Premier League by landing a shock deal for Morgan Rogers, who will move from Aston Villa in a transfer worth an eye-watering £117million. The deal has left Arsenal scrambling, with one of their top targets now off the market, but the rumour mill is spinning apace as they consider their options. RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has emerged as a potential option, while they continue to monitor the situation of Argentina and Atletico man Julian Alvarez. Interest remains, too, in Bruno Guimaraes, while a deal for Christos Tzolis is set to be announced in the coming days.

Elsewhere, Ezri Konsa has been linked with a move to the Emirates as they seek cover for the injured William Saliba, who could miss up to half of the season with a back fracture. Man United, meanwhile, remain active in the midfield market after adding Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, with contact made over Hugo Larsson as a bid for Manu Kone is prepared. Chelsea’s typically hectic window continues, and they have been told how much it will cost to sign Maxence Lacroix as they consider a loan move for Mamadou Sarr.

Tottenham have already spent over £200million this summer - more than any other club in the top flight - and remain interested in further reinforcements, though they have rejected an offer from Newcastle for Lucas Bergvall. Liverpool have tied down Dominik Szoboszlai to a new contract but are targeting a forward signing, or two, amid links to Bradley Barcola. ICYMI: Chelsea book Rogers medical

Chelsea have agreed a £117million fee with Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers, who will undergo a medical on Monday.

The versatile attacking midfielder, who is currently with the England squad at the World Cup, was expected to leave Villa summer, with Arsenal making him their top transfer priority this summer.

But Standard Sport understands it is Chelsea who the player has picked. The Blues have been long-time admirers of Rogers, and have acted quickly and efficiently to deny the Gunners.

The deal will set a new transfer record for an English player, eclipsing the £116m fee Manchester City agreed to pay for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.

Arsenal are continuing to monitor Julian Alvarez’s situation.

The Argentina striker could become a World Cup champion for the second time today, but his club level situation is rather less rosy as Barcelona attempt to pry him away from Atletico Madrid, who have no intention of selling to a rival.

But Arsenal see an opportunity, per Fabrizio Romano, to potentially swoop for the player should he look to crowbar his way out of the club.

Arsenal have made contact with Yan Diomande’s representatives after Chelsea pipped them to the signing of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Per Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are prepared to rival Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for the 19-year-old winger’s signature as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking ranks.

It will be tricky for them to pull off a deal after entering the race at this late stage, though, as Diomande has already agreed personal terms with PSG.

Morgan Rogers is joining Chelsea from Aston Villa in a transfer shocker this will take some beating this summer.

Chelsea have moved a break-neck speed to snap up Arsenal’s priority transfer target, parting with a club-record fee of £117million to send the Gunners scrambling towards other targets. The midfielder will undergo a medical on Monday.

But this was no impulse buy. Rogers has been a long-time target of Chelsea’s, who identified the midfielder many months ago as a potential signing who could add versatility and quality in the final third.

There is real belief and confidence behind the scenes that Rogers will continue to grow beyond the player who has been the standout playmaker within an impressive Aston Villa side for the past two and a half seasons.

And this was no surprise to Villa, who have been in talks with Arsenal but were also aware of Chelsea’s motives for some time.

Haaland expected to replace Real star

Vinicius Junior is increasingly likely to leave Real Madrid for free next summer, reports in Spain claim.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is expected to replace the Brazilian in the Spanish capital, with Vinicius therefore potentially departing when his current contract at the Bernabeu expires.

Barcelona target Gyokeres

Barcelona have turned their attention to Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, El Nacional claims.

Barca have held two meetings with the club’s representatives during the past month, while the Premier League side could allow Gyokeres to leave for around €60million.

Manchester United have considered a move for West Ham left-back Oliver Scarles, Ben Jacobs says.

Their interest has not advanced beyond the initial stage, however, and the defender could well remain at the Championship side.

Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for Djed Spence this summer despite his impressive World Cup, talkSPORT claims.

Spurs want to reduce their squad and raise funds for Roberto De Zerbi's rebuild. Inter Milan are interested in Spence and have held talks with the club.

Newcastle United have added Manchester United winger Amad Diallo to their summer shortlist, according to Caught Offside.

Brighton are also monitoring Amad, while AC Milan currently lead the race. United would only consider letting Amad leave if he pushes for an exit.
