Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to sign Bradley Barcola for over a year and even tried to sign him in 2025, but they might soon get their chance to make him a Red.
The Reds’ pursuit of Barcola appears to be gathering momentum despite seemingly stalling in the last couple of weeks.
Two major developments have emerged in recent days which are opening the door for Liverpool to complete a mega-money deal for the 23-year-old.
Although PSG have publicly maintained that Barcola is not for sale, reports suggest there is increasing optimism that a deal could yet become possible this summer.
Liverpool interest in Barcola remains strong
Liverpool are understood to have renewed contact with Barcola and PSG, who has reportedly emerged as their priority target this summer, although another claim says signing Adam Wharton is top of their list.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have made fresh contact with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG have made it clear they need to offload some talent to comply with financial regulations, while Barcola has made it clear that he will not sign a new deal.
Two developments could boost Liverpool
PSG are closing in on a deal to sign AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche, which could further open the door to a Barcola exit, according to journalist Abdellah Boulma.
He reports: “PSG has come back with a third offer for Maghnes Akliouche.
“While a 5-year contract awaits the player in Paris, the two clubs are gradually nearing an agreement around 45/50 M€.”
In addition to PSG’s imminent move to sign Akliouche, it has been made abundantly clear that the chances of Barcola signing a new deal in Paris are close to zero.
Reporting on X on Saturday morning, the French journalist claimed that talks are not going to happen between the winger and PSG.
Alongside the discussions underway for Diomande, no meeting is planned at this stage between PSG and Bradley Barcola with a view to a new contract extension offer,” Boulma said.
“Paris’s latest proposal dates back to last spring.”

While these developments are encouraging, it might be worth saying that this is no guarantee that Liverpool will sign Barcola.
His £116m price tag is still prohibitive to a move to Anfield, but the chances of it happening are certainly improving.
