West Ham have identified AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori as a potential transfer target, according to ExWHUEmployee.
Writing on The West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website), the insider said that the ex-Chelsea star is “keen” on a move back to London, but the Hammers face a tough battle with Premier League sides and Saudi Pro League teams:
“The club have other ambitious targets on a list, one of which is Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan. Again, this remains a highly ambitious target but should the likes of Newcastle, Leeds and Crystal Palace as well as Al-Hilal of Saudi fail in their attempts to sign him we could try and offer him an alternative.”
“He only has 11 months left on his deal at Milan and is also said to be keen on a return to London, two things we could take advantage of.”
West Ham face an uphill task
If Tomori wants to move back to the capital, you would think Crystal Palace would be his likeliest destination, considering they are playing in the top flight.
As Ex points out, pursuing the England international seems to be rather ambitious, and it would be a surprise if he chose the Irons over his other potential suitors.
Tomori is just one of 12 targets
It appears as if Director of Player Recruitment Nils Koppen and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo are casting the net far and wide as they look to strengthen the centre of defence.
Tomori is believed to head a list of 12 names that are currently under consideration. Some play in England’s second and third tier, while others are currently with top-tier teams abroad. It seems West Ham will be very busy in the transfer target ahead of their first game against Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup on August 8th.
