Liverpool need to make plenty of signings during the remainder of this summer, but journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed their “biggest priority” addition.
The Reds are being linked with potential additions left, right and centre, with Alan Shearer talking up them making a move for Bournemouth star Rayan:
“Yeah, that would be a big thing, they’re going to have to replace Salah on that side. Rayan obviously worked with Andoni Iraola last year and he’s clearly going on to big things, so that would be a big one for Liverpool.
“Liverpool are going to have to make two or three big signings and that would start them off nicely. They were pretty awful last year in terms of where they wanted to be, so they have to go out and they have to sign.”
Rayan plays in Mohamed Salah’s right-sided attacking role, and speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke claimed that it is the role Liverpool are targeting the most this summer:
“Liverpool’s biggest priority is to bring in a new winger to replace Mohamed Salah. That’s going to be a costly deal as well, so I don’t see how they could afford to bring in a marquee signing for that winger, while also signing somebody like Julian Alvarez, who’s going to cost in excess, probably, of £120 million.”

Replacing Salah is close to impossible, considering he is one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history, but finding a top-quality successor is of the utmost importance ahead of next season.
Left wing and central midfield are among the other important positions to focus on, but nailing the Salah berth feels so key, and Rayan could be an ideal option to come in.
The Brazilian is young, hugely talented and has played under Andoni Iraola in the past, and he has the flair and end product to become Liverpool’s next attacking hero.
If Rayan doesn’t end up being the man to come in, other elite alternatives must be looked at – whether Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola can excel on the right wing as much as the left remains to be seen.
