Besiktas president Serdal Adali says the Turkish club wants to sign Mohamed Salah after his Liverpool contract expired — but claims the Egyptian's agent, Ramy Abbas, has made "astronomical" demands in talks over the deal.
"Nothing is finalized yet regarding the Salah transfer," Adali is quoted as saying by Yeni Safak.
"Following reports in the media that the transfer was complete, the agents changed the figures, trying to raise them to astronomical levels. We didn't accept that.
"Our negotiations are ongoing. We love Salah very much and we agree with the player on everything, but everyone should know that our priority is the interests of Besiktas. We are proceeding in this direction. Our fans can rest assured."
Now, more quotes have emerged from the Turkish club's boss, where he goes into further detail about his claims regarding Abbas.
"Mohamed Salah has given his approval for this transfer, and his agent initially responded," Adali is quoted as telling WinWin.
"Salah spoke to both our technical director and our sporting director and gave his approval as well. But later, as soon as it was written in the media that 'the transfer had been completed', the agent raised the financial demands.

"The agent raised his commission to unbelievable figures, reaching about 35 per cent. From our side, such a percentage cannot be accepted under any circumstances, and we do not believe that Salah is aware of these figures."
On Friday, Abbas posted a series of updates on social media teasing that Salah's next move was imminent.
He first wrote: "We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season but we may know very soon."
Eight minutes later, he added: "It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise."

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
A few hours later, he then posted: "I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?"
That final message was then reposted the following day.

Liverpool.com says: Salah making the move to Turkiye would make sense in many ways. His salary would be large, and Besiktas could play Europa League soccer this term.
Fenerbahce was also interested, but wherever he goes, he should remain ambitious. A switch to Saudi Arabia or MLS can wait.
