Saquon Barkley and family unharmed after attempted burglary

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and his family are thankfully OK following an alleged attempted burglary of their home.

According to the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, Barkley’s home was broken into while he and his family were inside on Saturday morning.

Police were called to the residence around 5 a.m. ET, but the suspects had already fled before they arrived. One of at least two assailants involved entered the home in the attempted burglary.

“They were home, and fortunately, as you know, with any situation like this, our main concern is that the residents of that home at the time were unharmed, which they were. They were fine afterwards, obviously unsettled as anyone would be,” Capt. Tyler Moyer said.

“We know there’s more than one (suspect), but we’re still trying to determine how many were involved,” Moyer added.

Police have since released a photo of a white SUV that is believed to be connected to the attempted burglary of Barkley’s home.

Police are also urging those in the area to check their home security cameras for any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident.

In recent years, several NFL stars have been victims of house burglaries, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

It remains unclear if this attempted burglary is connected to those ones, but Moyer did say he would be in touch with federal authorities to explore possible connections.

“We will look at all angles of this because we know, obviously, it’s been all over the news in the past few years about different professional athletes’ homes getting burglarized,” said Moyer.

Seven men have been charged in connection with the aforementioned burglaries of the homes of Mahomes, Kelce and Burrow, and one man has pleaded guilty, leading to a sentence of 24 months in prison.

Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2024 and has spent the past two seasons with the team. The superstar running back played a key role in Philly’s 2024 Super Bowl run.

Prior to his stint in Philly, Barkley spent the first six seasons of his career with the New York Giants, who drafted him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
