Arsenal eyeing move to sign wide man who is 'levels above most' amid Rogers blow - report

Arsenal are showing an interest in signing a new left-back in the summer transfer window as they look to improve Mikel Arteta's squad.

It's been a slow start to the window for the Gunners as they struggle to get key targets over the line.

Arsenal were prioritising a move to sign Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers this summer, but Chelsea have now swooped in and agreed a deal to secure his signature.

Arteta's side have confirmed just one new addition during the summer transfer window, with Illan Meslier arriving to improve their goalkeeper options after his deal at Leeds United expired.

After winning the Premier League title last season, the North London club will want to continue building and perhaps go one step further in the Champions League.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal are one of the teams showing an interest in signing Borussia Dortmund left-back Daniel Svensson in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners see him as a versatile option to help benefit Arteta's squad, as he is capable of playing at left back, wing back, or in midfield.

The likes of AC Milan, Juventus, and Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest, although the strongest links appear to be coming from England.

Svensson, who has been described as being 'levels above most' players, is expected to cost in the region of £43 million.

Arsenal face plenty of competition for his signature, and considering he's unlikely to be a guaranteed starter, it could be a difficult deal to get over the line.

One position Arsenal need to majorly prioritise in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window is the left-hand side of attack.

The position was likely to be a priority at the start of the window, but it has become even more so now that Leandro Trossard has left the club to join Turkish side Besiktas.

GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see them sign another.

Tzolis is relatively unproven in England, so Arteta and his recruitment team might want a ready-made star.
