Report: Hawks part ways with former 1st overall pick, acquire Lu Dort in 3-team trade

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The Atlanta Hawks are trading former first overall pick Zaccharie Risacher and acquiring Oklahoma City Thunder’s wing Lu Dort in a three-team deal, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The deal sends the Thunder three second-round picks to OKC and Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks. Atlanta also gets Ryan Nembhard, Charania posted Sunday on social media.

With Dort, the Hawks get a former All-Defensive First Teamer and NBA champion.

Dort arrived in OKC in 2019 as an undrafted free agent/two-way, played some time with the Oklahoma City Blue, and quickly became a Thunder fixture thanks to his elite perimeter defense (“Dorture Chamber”) and physical on-ball pressure.

Over seven seasons (2019–2026), he grew from a defensive specialist into a steady rotation starter.

Risacher’s Hawks stint was brief and despite being taken No. 1 overall, he never reached the “face of the franchise” stage. The Hawks brought him along as a long-term wing piece, and he spent his time in a developmental/rotation role rather than as a primary scorer.

His tenure ends in Atlanta and Nembhard’s begins.

Undrafted in 2025, Nembhard, a former BIG East Freshman of the Year (Creighton) signed a two-way with the Dallas Mavericks, spent time with their G League affiliate (Texas Legends) as part of his early pro development.

Watch the Hawks on Gray

Atlanta News First (ANF) and its parent company Gray Media announced Thursday a landmark broadcast partnership with the Hawks that will bring all non-nationally televised games during the 2026-27 NBA to homes throughout north Georgia.

The agreement makes ANF the official broadcast partner of the franchise and represents the most accessible broadcast television commitment for Hawks basketball with each available game being broadcast for free over the air.

Fans across the Atlanta market can watch Hawks games on WANF’s free over-the-air signal, as well as through WANF’s carriage on major pay-TV systems including Xfinity, Spectrum, DirecTV, and DISH Network. WANF is also available on YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream, and Fubo.
