Spain has a loaded World Cup squad, even if it lacks the star power of a few of the other bigger teams at the tournament.
That means that for Sunday's World Cup Final against Argentina, Spain was bound to leave some talented players on the bench. Among those beginning the game as substitutes for the championship match: Pedri, Gavi, David Raya and Nico Williams.
Their absences aren't all the same, but they prove how impressive the Spain team is as a whole.
And if they need to make a change at some point, the options to bring in are pretty strong.

Why isn't Pedri playing?
Pedri's absence is mostly due to form.
He was starting early in the tournament, but Spain has gone away from him in the lineup in favor of Fabian Ruiz.
Pedri plays the Spanish style very well, but it just wasn't leading to enough goals early in the tournament.
Why isn't Gavi playing?
Gavi simply hasn't been a first-choice option in this tournament.
He could make a bench impact in the final if called upon.
Why isn't David Raya playing?
Raya, despite winning the Premier League with Arsenal, hasn't been Spain's starting goalie.
Unai Simon has had that job for a few years and has retained it here.
Raya is on the bench along with Barcelona champion Joan Garcia.
Why isn't Nico Williams playing?
The talented attacker dealt with injury early in the tournament.
Spain hasn't been able to get Williams up to speed since then, so the best he can do is play off the bench.
