Spain v Argentina: Final - FIFA World Cup 2026

Ferran Torres was a happy man after scoring the winning goal in the final of World Cup 2026 to secure a 1-0 win for Spain over Argentina.

The Barcelona star came off the bench and struck in extra-time to deliver a second World Cup title for La Roja.

Here’s what he made of it all:

“I think in the end the goal belongs to 47 million people, not to me. Destiny was written, it was made for us to win,” he told the media.

“All finals are difficult, but when you have Messi on the opposing team, that nervousness always sets in, but we depended on ourselves and we proved it once again.

“A huge relief, I’ve been heavily criticized throughout the World Cup but destiny is written and thank God who always gives me strength to continue, as I say... God gives things to those who deserve them most.

“Argentina played this type of game, especially after the sending-off, but I kept my composure.”

It’s a great moment for Ferran and his Barcelona team-mates who pick up the World Cup trophy after a brilliant tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Congratulations!
