Arsenal will look to move on from their pursuit of Morgan Rogers after Chelsea swooped in and hijacked the deal.

Mikel Arteta had been tracking the Aston Villa star for some time, but the Blues have stunned their city rivals by making a successful move of their own. Rogers will put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, becoming a club-record signing for a fee of £117million.

The Gunners will now turn their attention elsewhere with Arteta aiming to strengthen his squad. Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier have already completed permanent moves, with Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola and Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi both emerging as targets.

The Gunners have also been linked with a shock move for a £110million star who previously snubbed Liverpool. Here, football.london brings you the very latest news from the Emirates Stadium.

Morgan Rogers' three reasons for Chelsea move

Rogers was presented with three compelling reasons to choose Chelsea over Arsenal, despite his prolonged association with the Gunners. The Athletic reported that the midfielder opted for the Blues because of the exciting project the club had sold to him.

Additionally, Xabi Alonso's presence at Stamford Bridge proved another decisive factor in Chelsea's efforts to persuade him to overlook Arsenal. It is also understood that the Blues have informed Rogers that they intend to utilise him on the left wing next season, which ultimately became the final reason for his impending move.

The 23-year-old is expected to go through his medical to become a Chelsea player this week. The fee surpasses the Blues' record signing fee, previously set by Enzo Fernandez's £107million signing in 2023.

Gunners consider £110m transfer

Arsenal are moving on from their failed pursuit of Rogers and could instead perform a hijack of their own on Paris Saint-Germain for Yan Diomande. The RB Leipzig winger had been strongly linked with Liverpool earlier in the transfer window, with the Reds submitting a £86.8million bid.

However, it emerged that Diomande was keen on a move to France, with Leipzig placing a staggering £110million (€130million) price tag on his head. The 19-year-old has agreed to individual terms with PSG, with L'Equipe reporting that a fee is currently under discussion.

According to Fabrizio Romano, however, the Gunners made contact with his representatives in recent days to assess whether a deal was feasible. Arsenal would need to splash a considerable sum to land the teenager, but may be plotting a more determined approach after missing out on Rogers to Chelsea.
