Former Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell was arrested and booked into Stark County Jail in Ohio, first reported by Jordan Miller on X. Bell was at an autograph signing event at Belden Village Mall in Canton shortly before he was arrested.
Here is the arrest record from Jackson Township Police Department as a “courtesy hold for another agency.” Bell’s photo initially did not appear on the inmate roster but was uploaded sometime Monday morning.
Specific charges aren’t yet known. Miller reported it was related to failure to pay child support, but we are unable to confirm. We contacted the Stark County Sheriff’s office late Sunday night, but they were unable to provide additional details on Bell’s arrest.
Bell played football about two hours south of where he was arrested Sunday afternoon, officially booked at 3:33 PM.
This is not Bell’s first run-in with the law since ending his playing career. He was also handed a default judgment by a jury after failing to appear in court for a sexual abuse case early in 2025 from a lawsuit initially filed in 2024.
Bell last played in the NFL in 2021 for both the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He flirted with an NFL comeback early last year, but has instead focused his efforts into streaming video games, growing his social media presence online, and the occasional celebrity boxing match.
Pittsburgh drafted Bell in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. It wasn’t long before he turned into one of the top running backs in the league. Bell and the Steelers could never agree on a contract extension, so they applied the franchise tag for two straight seasons, which resulted in a high-profile hold out. He skipped the 2018 season as a result, and his career never bounced back to All-Pro form.
Le’Veon Bell is not the only member from the Killer B’s era to have legal issues since retiring from the NFL. Antonio Brown was arrested last year after allegedly discharging a gun at a celebrity boxing event.
