Liverpool are now believed to have tabled their “opening bid” for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, in an encouraging new transfer update.
The Frenchman has been a leading target for the Reds for weeks now, as they look to not only fill the void left by Mohamed Salah, but also bring in wide depth on either wing.
Reliable journalist David Ornstein has provided an update on Barcola’s future recently, saying: “He’s not a regular starter, and he wants to be, so I suspect he would be open to a move if the right opportunity arose. Liverpool have him high in their thinking, and I imagine Barcola himself would be attracted to clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal, and so on.
“The price would be very high. Of course, we’ve got to keep a close eye on Barcola and Liverpool, but at this moment I’m not sure it’s at an advanced stage.”
Now, a respected source on X has provided a big new update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Barcola, saying they have taken a considerable leap in the right direction:
“Our sources state that Liverpool are in club-to-club talks with PSG regarding Bradley Barcola. We understand an opening bid has been submitted. No bid from Arsenal as of yet.”

At this point, it feels like Liverpool are ready to go all in on Barcola as their No.1 wing signing this summer, and bringing him in would feel significant.
Granted, a top-quality right-sided player is just as important to replace Salah – the PSG man is at his best on the left flank – but if a player of Barcola’s class is available, the Reds should be looking to go in for him.
Still only 23, the £128m-rated France international has already racked up 76 goal contributions in 152 appearances for his current club, and six goals in 28 caps for France, so he should only get better.
Barcola would give Liverpool the lightning pace that they missed out wide so much last season, as well as end product, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops in the coming weeks.
