The news that Morgan Rogers is coming to Chelsea, along with the end of the World Cup, really gives the sense that this transfer window is getting into top gear, and the most recent report from our writer Simon Phillips confirms that.

He says that his sources have told him that Chelsea have made fresh contact over their top two midfield targets.

Both Adam Wharton and Alex Scott have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge a lot over the last 6 months, and those contacts seem to be intensifying now.

Phillips makes the point that both of these options want “assurance over game time” if they come in – we wouldn’t worry about that, if they’re coming in it’s because Enzo has gone.

Whatever happens with the Argentine midfielder, it needs to happen soon so the club can move on with their plans.
