**RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has been linked with a move to Liverpool for months, and journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided a new update on his future.**
The 19-year-old looked like the Reds’ first choice to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield this summer, but journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that [alternatives are being looked at](https://live4liverpool.com/reliable-journalist-drops-big-yan-diomande-to-liverpool-transfer-update/), which makes perfect sense:

So come what may, Liverpool are going to add another attacker, and Yan Diamonde remains their leading target. I think it’s fair to say they’re actively working on those alternatives simply because it gives you leverage in the market as well.”_

**Are Liverpool still in the race to sign Yan Diomande?**

Diomande would be such an exciting signing for Liverpool, considering how much potential the Ivorian has, but as things stand, it may be nothing more than a pipe dream for them.
PSG are clearly a big draw for many players currently, given their status as Champions League holders and back-to-back winners of the tournament, so it is easy to see him heading there instead.
If Diomande does choose the Ligue 1 giants, the main hope is that it paves the way for Liverpool to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG, with the Frenchman potentially being pushed further down the wide pecking order under Luis Enrique.
Ideally, the Reds would sign both, giving them elite options on either flank – Diomande on the right and Barcola on the left – but it looks as though they will have to look at an alternative option in Salah’s role, in a massive task for Andoni Iraola and the recruitment team.
