The Philadelphia Eagles have had a long history of head coaches who have rolled into the city, but there is a big question: who is the best one ever?
Most modern-day fans would probably put Andy Reid or Nick Sirianni near or at the top, but there were other great ones before them. Guys like Buck Shaw and Greasy Neale brought championships to the city and made them proud to have the league's most legendary teams.
When really looking at it, though, there is a clear top five that Eagles can might argue, but for the most part agree with in some aspects. Here is a look at the top head coaches in franchise history and where Sirianni lands on that list.

Honorable Mention: Buck Shaw (1958-1960)
It wasn't a long run for Shaw, but he did capture the last championship for the Eagles back in 1960 until the 2017 season. He had winning seasons in his last two years, so he deserves credit for turning the franchise around, but he wasn't there long enough to change the course of the franchise's history.
5. Dick Vermeil (1976-1982)
Vermeil has coached three NFL teams, and the fans loved him wherever he went. He gave Eagles fans hope when he took them to their first Super Bowl in 1980, even though the Oakland Raiders blew them out. During his seven-year run, he went 54-47 and took the Eagles to the postseason in four of those years.
4. Doug Pederson (2016-2020)
Pederson was forced to clean up the mess Chip Kelly had created, and what a masterful job he did at that. He took them from a roster disaster to Super Bowl champions within two years. That Super Bowl run was impressive, winning it with a backup quarterback, Nick Foles, and he became a Philly legend for it. He finished with a 42-37 record and made the playoffs in three of the five years.
3. Greasy Neale (1941-1950)
Neale is the only head coach in franchise history to win multiple championships and win them in back-to-back years. He took the Eagles to the NFL Championship three years in a row and they won it in 1948 and 1949. Neale had a 63-43-5 overall record as the head coach in Philly.
2. Andy Reid (1999-2012)
There were a lot of painful memories with Reid as the head coach, with so many seasons ending in the NFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl, but his genius cannot be denied. He set the foundation for the Eagles to be successful today from the work he did in the 2000s. In 14 years, Reid had a 130-93-1 overall record, nine playoff appearances, five NFC Championship Game appearances, and one Super Bowl appearance for a legendary resume.

1. Nick Sirianni (2021-Present)
Hate him if NFL fans want to, but Sirianni is the best coach in franchise history, having accomplished so much in just five years running the team. He has taken the Eagles to the playoffs every season, been to two Super Bowls, and won one. His overall record is 59-26 with a winning percentage of 69.4%. Why is he on the hot seat again?
