Liverpool fans have just five days to wait until the Andoni Iraola era properly kicks off.
The Reds will fly out to the United States this week to begin their preseason tour. The first game takes place at GEODIS Park in Nashville on Saturday, as Iraola's players face Sunderland in an all-Premier League clash. That will be followed by games against Wrexham in New York and Leeds, another Premier League outfit, in Chicago.
Iraola will be without some key players for that tour, including Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz after they reached the World Cup final with their respective nations. Here, Liverpool.com rounds up the fallout from that game and provides an update on Jurgen Klopp's coaching comeback.
Mac Allister's agony
Munoz is a World Cup champion after his Spain team defeated Alexis Mac Allister's 1-0 in Sunday's final.
Yet the result was overshadowed by some disgraceful scenes at full-time, as some of Mac Allister's teammates — including Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina — tried to fight some of the victorious Spanish players.
Mac Allister managed to avoid the post-game drama, but not the heartbreak. The Liverpool midfielder was hammered in the Argentinian press, as one outlet claimed he "looked uncomfortable all evening." Another gave him a 5/10 rating.

Mac Allister is now expected to take a well-earned break after a grueling World Cup before returning to Kirkby toward the back end of preseason.
Despite losing, Mac Allister can still take pride in reaching the final. The Argentinians topped their World Cup group before beating Cape Verde, Egypt, Switzerland and England.
"I feel sad, but I am aware that we played our hearts out," said Argentina's head coach, Lionel Scaloni.
"There are many things I would like to say, but I can't really. I am forever thankful to these guys who have competed all the way. They were better, to be honest. I have really fond memories of what they did and how difficult it is to get here."
Klopp surprise
Legendary Liverpool boss Klopp is widely expected to be announced as Germany's new head coach any day now.

The Germans fired Julian Nagelsmann after they lost to Paraguay at the World Cup, with Klopp poised to accept his first coaching role since stepping down from his position at Liverpool two years ago.
Klopp has worked as Red Bull's head of global soccer since January 2025. There was speculation over whether he would keep that role on becoming Germany's boss, but it appears that won't be the case.
According to SportBILD, Klopp will have no affiliation with Red Bull when he becomes Germany's head coach. The German outlet has described the decision as a "surprise."
