Liverpool fans have made light of Victor Munoz's lack of minutes after the new signing won the World Cup without even playing.
Munoz's Spain defeated Alexis Mac Allister's Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final on Sunday. Former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres scored an extra-time winner for Spain after Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez was sent off for Argentina in regular time.
Munoz, who recently completed a summer transfer from Osasuna to Liverpool, was part of Spain's 26-man squad for the World Cup. Yet the 23-year-old winger failed to make a single appearance during the tournament and was forced to watch on from the bench.
Munoz was always unlikely to be involved in Sunday's final after failing to get on the pitch beforehand. Yet the Spaniard will not care one bit, as he arrives on Merseyside as a world champion.
The Reds celebrated Spain's victory at full-time by posting a picture of Munoz on their social media channels. "Victor and Spain are 2026 FIFA World Cup winners," read Liverpool's caption.
Liverpool fans were quick to make some sarcastic remarks about Munoz's involvement in the victory. "MVP for me," wrote one fan on Instagram, while another joked: "Player of the tournament."

Over on X, one fan laughed: "What a tournament for the boy."
Yet those comments were only lighthearted, and others showed their support for Munoz. Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique, who played for Spain at the youth level, responded with clapping emojis on X.
Meanwhile, one fan wrote on the same social media platform: "Great job Munoz — looking forward to those assists in a Liverpool shirt."
And another wrote on Instagram: "Vamos Munoz! Welcome to the Reds."
The Spanish keep on winning
Sunday's result marks Spain's second World Cup title after beating the Netherlands in the 2010 final. Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney praised Spain's head coach, Luis de la Fuente, for the outstanding job he's done with the national team.
De la Fuente, 65, wasn't regarded as one of the top coaches in Europe when he was first appointed by Spain to be the U19 coach in 2013. Yet he's since worked his way to the top job — accepting the role in 2022 — and has also taken charge of the U21 and U23 teams.
De la Fuente won the U19 Euros in 2015 and the U21 Euros in 2019. He led Spain to a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics, held in 2021, before securing a hat-trick of titles with the senior team: the 2023 Nations League, the 2024 Euros, and now the 2026 World Cup.
Rooney told the BBC: "The manager deserves a lot of credit for what he has built. The squad has got a good balance. Some experience and a lot of youth.

"They have players who have grown up through the system together. They know each other's game inside out. They won the Euros two years ago, so they have had a big advantage of how to win a major competition. That showed in the game today."
