Liverpool confirm new Iraola backroom staffer

**Liverpool have confirmed Alejandro Rosalen as their new goalkeeping coach.**

Rosalen becomes the latest addition to Andoni Iraola’s backroom staff following the departure of Xavi Valero, who [left just 12 months into his second spell](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/66311-fourth-liverpool-goalkeeping-coach-leaves-xavi-valero/) at Anfield.

The Spaniard most recently ended a five-season stint with Napoli during which he was part of their two Serie A title-winning teams; the club’s first since 1990.

His previous role was also in the Italian top flight with Fiorentina, where he spent eight years and worked under five managers at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Roselen, who also had spells with Valencia’s under-19 side and Hungarian side Videoton, becomes the fifth addition to Iraola’s coaching ranks this summer.

The 49-year-old is the first non-Bournemouth addition to the staff after the Basque reunited with several of his former lieutenants in the core of his coaching team.

Pablo de la Torre, Tommy Elphick, Shaun Cooper and Tom Webber were all [previously confirmed as part of Liverpool’s new-look setup](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/66247-liverpool-confirm-andoni-iraola-coaching-team/) earlier this month.

De la Torre will serve as Iraola’s deputy, having taken a lead on fitness at the Vitality Stadium, while his former assistant Elphick joins Cooper as a first-team coach.

Analyst Webber comes in as Roderick van der Ham’s successor after the final member of Arne Slot’s inner circle confirmed his departure at the end of June.
