Liverpool’s 31-man squad for USA pre-season tour confirmed

Liverpool’s squad for pre-season friendlies against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds in the United States has been confirmed.

Andoni Iraola‘s squad travel to Chicago on Monday, where they’ll be based for their two-week training camp, taking in games in Nashville, New York City and Chicago.

It’s a youthful group, with senior players who played in the World Cup set to join later this week and next week.

Among the 31-man squad are new £60 million centre-back Jeremy Jacquet and the returning duo of Harvey Elliott and Kostas Tsimikas.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Rio Ngumoha are the headline names who fans Stateside will get to see up close.

Sixteen-year-old Josh Abe is among the squad, along with academy players James McConnell, Lewis Koumas, Josh Sonni-Lambie and Will Wright.

New centre-back signing Ifeanyi Ndukwe is also in, along with full-backs Luke Chambers, Calum Scanlon and Calvin Ramsay.

Under-21s captain and top goalscorer, Kieran Morrison, will be looking to make an impression on the right wing.

Six players – Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo, Stefan Bajcetic and Vitezslav Jaros – have all travelled as part of the squad despite carrying injuries.

Youngster Mor Talla Ndiaye is yet to travel but there are hopes he can link up with the squad later in the week, however Jayden Danns misses out due to injury.

World Cup players Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz are set to join the group later this week, meaning they won’t be involved in the first friendly against Sunderland in Nashville on Saturday evening.

They could get some minutes in the second friendly, against Championship side Wrexham in New York on July 30, and more involvement against Leeds back in Chicago on August 2.

Virgil van Dijk and Alisson should also return in that second week, but are unlikely to feature heavily in America. Any decision over Cody Gakpo‘s involvement is open-ended at this stage as the club continue to offer compassionate leave.

The bulk of Van Dijk and Alisson‘s game time should come in the two Anfield friendlies in August against Como and Monaco.
