Patriots quarterback Drake Maye hosted three football camps last week and told the assembled children that he takes responsibility for New England’s loss in Super Bowl LX.
Maye said the Patriots’ loss was a good experience for him in the sense that it’d good for everyone to face adversity that they have to learn to overcome.
“I wish we would have won it; [I have to play better](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/49385736/new-england-patriots-starts-2026-training-camp-saturday-drake-maye),” Maye said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “You give your best, sometimes things don’t go your way, and that’s why you have to get back to work. I think that’s the best thing about life -- there are times when you don’t get what you worked for, but you get back to work, have to have the right mindset, and know it’s not always going to be easy.”
It was an ugly Super Bowl for Maye, as the Patriots’ offense did nothing against the Seahawks’ defense until garbage time. Now Maye’s focus is on growing from that experience, getting back to the Super Bowl, and playing a whole lot better when he does.
