Jonathan Kuminga is still a free agent. LeBron James is still a free agent.
And believe it or not, those things might be connected.
James is the biggest name available, clearly, and he hasn't made his decision yet as of Monday morning.
Kuminga plays a similar position and is a lot more of a wild card. He's young with upside, but he also hasn't made it work with either the Golden State Warriors or Atlanta Hawks.
At this point, it'd be fair to think Kuminga might not get a full allotment of offers until teams know whether they've landed LeBron or not.
And a report in The Athletic aligns with that, because one of the teams that wants Kuminga is the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs, as most are well aware, are also in the running to get James for another homecoming. If they made that happen, they probably wouldn't then be able to pull off a Kuminga deal.
"The Athletic has reported on the Lakers’ interest in free agent Jonathan Kuminga since late June, but it appears that momentum has stalled with the sides far apart on terms and L.A. not overly motivated to push significant draft capital into sign-and-trade scenarios," The Athletic's Dan Woike writes. "Still, he appears to be the biggest upside play left on the table, and could re-emerge as a target if his market remains tepid. Cleveland, according to league sources, is the team most-often connected to Kuminga other than the Lakers."
While LeBron isn't going to the Lakers, maybe his signing will also start to move the Kuminga market some more to determine whether L.A. re-engages on Kuminga.
It's obviously not a shock that this is all connected, but it's still pretty fascinating.
LeBron is going to have a domino effect no matter what he decides, and one of those dominos appears to be Kuminga.
