Barcelona star Ferran Torres was the hero for La Roja, smashing home the only goal of the match to hand Spain just their second ever World Cup title.
With the tournament having now concluded, it’s time to look back at some of the best goals we saw at the tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada this summer.
Julian Alvarez: Argentina vs Switzerland

Julian Alvarez had been having an underwhelming World Cup until he lit up the quarter-finals with an absolute stunner against Switzerland.
The game was heading towards penalties with the scores locked at 1-1 when Alvarez picked up possession on the edge of the box and whipped a curling strike around Swiss stopper Gregor Kobel.
Alvarez’s stunner prompted wild celebrations as Argentina went on to win 3-1 and make it safely through to the last four.
Wilson Isidor: Haiti vs Morocco

Haiti were back at the World Cup for the first time in 52 years and certainly left their mark with an absolutely belting goal against Morocco.
Goalscorer Wilson Isidor will certainly never tire of seeing his strike again. The Sunderland star unleashed an absolute thunderbolt from outside the penalty area that flew across goal and into the top corner.
Sidny Cabral: Cape Verde vs Argentina

Cape Verde were one of the big stories of World Cup 2026 as the debutants became the smallest nation ever to reach the knockouts.
The Blue Sharks went on to give defending champions Argentina an almighty scare in a belting Round of 32 clash between the two sides.
With Cape Verde 2-1 behind in extra-time, Sidny Cabral hauled his team level in sensational style. The 23-year-old was picked out wide on the left, cruised past Alexis Mac Allister and then curled an unstoppable effort past the despairing dive of Emi Martinez in the Argentina goal.
Erling Haaland: Norway vs Brazil

Norway goal machine Erling Haaland was a massive hit at the World Cup, scoring seven times as Stale Solbakken’s side made it all the way to the quarter-finals.
Brazil were one of Haaland’s victims as the Manchester City man scored a brace to dump Carlo Ancelotti’s men out on in the last 16.
Haaland headed home the first and then finished off Brazil with a laser-guided effort that flew through Danilo’s legs, fizzed past Alisson in the Brazil goal and nestled into the bottom corner.
Lionel Messi: Argentina vs Cape Verde

Lionel Messi scored eight times at World Cup 2026 at the grand old age of 39 and could have a couple of entries in the top 10.
Yet it’s the Argentina captain’s strike against Cape Verde that makes this list. Lisandro Martinez picked out Messi running into the area, the GOAT took a sublime first touch and put the ball in the back of the net with his second.
It was a difficult chance made to look ridiculously easy by the greatest to ever play the game.
Antonio Nusa: Norway vs Cote d’Ivoire

Antonio Nusa showed Norway weren’t all about Erling Haaland with an eye-catching effort to open the scoring against Cote d’Ivoire in the Round of 32.
The winger cruised into the penalty area, jinked past his defender and curled an outrageous effort past goalkeeper Yahia Fofana and into the back of the net.
Kylian Mbappe: France vs Sweden

Kylian Mbappe missed out on winning the World Cup but did take home the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer after netting 10 times.
The Real Madrid man caught the eye with several of his efforts but his goal against Sweden takes some beating.
With France toiling, Mbappe bamboozled Viktor Gyokeres, leaving the Arsenal man on the turf, and then whipped home a delightful finish.
Amad Diallo: Cote d’Ivoire vs Norway
Manchester United man Amad Diallo played super sub for Cote d’Ivoire, scoring within minutes of his arrival against Norway in the Round of 32 and doing so in style.
Amad cut in from the right flank, beat two men and managed to keep his composure to slot home his second goal of the tournament and make it 1-1 for his side.
Harry Kane: England vs DR Congo

Harry Kane came to England’s rescue against DR Congo in some style in the Round of 32. The Three Lions went behind to an early goal and were facing an embarrassing exit until the Bayern man stepped up.
With 76 minutes on the clock, Kane headed home an equaliser to make it 1-1. But things got even better for England 10 minutes later when Kane latched onto a pass from Anthony Gordon and rifled a spectacular winner into the top corner.
Enzo Fernandez: Argentina vs England

Defending champions Argentina left it late to book their place in the final and end England’s hopes of glory at World Cup 2026.
Anthony Gordon’s goal had given Thomas Tuchel’s side the advantage but two late goals for Argentina turned the tie around and booked a final date with Spain.
Enzo Fernandez was the man with the all-important equaliser. Lionel Messi squared the ball to the Chelsea star on the edge of the area and he swung a boot and fired a delicious strike past a crowded penalty area and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
