When LeBron James held his famed "The Decision" event and chose the Miami Heat, it was the same summer that Spain played in its first World Cup Final -- and the Spanish side topped the Netherlands then to hoist the trophy.
On Sunday, as the NBA world waits for a LeBron free agency decision, Spain played in its second World Cup Final -- and won again, topping Argentina 1-0 in extra time.
Will James pick the Heat again?
If we want to read into just a single historical omen and combine it with modern overlap, then yeah, maybe.

It's obviously not this simple, of course.
The Heat are competing with the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, and maybe the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves, too.
It seems pretty clear that LeBron isn't prioritizing money, but that then leaves a list of questions about what might actually matter to him now at age 41.
He's obviously played for the Heat before, so that could factor in, as well.
Miami already traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason, and landing LeBron would be astounding. The lineup might be a little tricky to figure out, but you'd rather be working that out with James on the roster than not.
For what it's worth, this World Cup Final was played in New Jersey, not Miami. The third-place match between England and France, a 6-4 English victory, was played in Miami.
Does that mean anything? At this point, LeBron is going to do what he wants to do. Maybe it'll coincidentally overlap with a historical precedent that no one knew had even been set, but maybe not.
