Bradley Barcola resolution “might take some time”
Liverpool remain interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Barcola, but David Ornstein has suggested any decision may yet take time to develop.
Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, Ornstein said of the Frenchman: “He appears open to moving, so no doubt Liverpool, and I’m sure others, will be actively exploring that.
“But it seems, for multiple reasons, one that might take some time to develop, whether that be staying or going.”

It has been a slow summer of transfer deals so far for the Reds, and patience will be wearing thin, but Barcola has emerged as a pricey option to reinforce the attack.
PSG want in excess of Elliot Anderson’s £116 million fee – thanks for that Man City – and the conclusion of the World Cup is at least expected to see things progress, whether for good or bad.
Arsenal are linked and others will be keeping a watchful eye, but the hope is Liverpool’s intentions will become clear sooner rather than later.
LFC News: Pre-season squad named and new coach announced

• Liverpool announced Alejandro Rosalen as their new goalkeeping coach, with the Spaniard joining from Napoli after Xavi Valero stepped down. That’s five new additions under Andoni Iraola.
• A 31-man squad was named as the club set off for their three-stop US tour, though six injured players were listed as the club seek to keep them involved.
• Goalkeeper Armin Pecsi will join Austrian club TSV Hartberg on loan this season, with the young Hungarian consequently missing out on the club’s squad to the US.
• Victor Munoz became only the sixth active Liverpool player to win the World Cup after Spain’s win over Argentina, leaving Alexis Mac Allister to pick up a runners-up medal.
• Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Ryan Gravenberch are due to be the first World Cup players to report for pre-season, with the trio expected to report back this weekend.
Harvey Elliott’s Liverpool career can be saved
Harvey Elliott‘s Liverpool career was over. He left last summer and we thought that was that. However, a strange quirk of his contract and a new coach could have saved him, writes Sam Millne:
“The Englishman may not make the boss’ first XI come the first day of the season, but there will be plenty of time to make an impact, which could in turn take some pressure off Wirtz.
“For Liverpool to enjoy a successful season in cup competitions, they will likely need to play about 60 games. Wirtz will not start them all.
“Football is increasingly a squad game and this was a notion that Slot failed to adopt.
“Elliott can still have a big part to play, even if he isn’t Iraola’s first-choice attacking midfielder.”

Remembering Kevin Keegan: 1951-2026

It was announced on Monday afternoon that Kevin Keegan had sadly died aged 75 after a battle with cancer.
He was one of the best players of his generation and was a central figure at Liverpool during the 1970s, winning three league titles, an FA Cup, European Cup and two UEFA Cups.
Keegan, who signed from Scunthorpe United for £33,000 in 1971, played 323 times for Liverpool, and Bill Shankly was one of his biggest fans.
After Keegan’s debut, Shankly gave a glowing review, saying: “What wonderful entertainment this was for the fans. And what a performance by Keegan.
“This lad’s got all the confidence in the world. With such a busy bee buzzing about, someone’s bound to get stung.”
Keegan would eventually break supporters’ hearts at the end of the 1976/77 season, joining SV Hamburg for a British transfer record of £500,000, where he twice went on to win the Ballon d’Or.
Rest in peace, Kevin. You’ll never walk alone.
