Newcastle United have been in contact with AC Milan about signing Fikayo Tomori, according to reports in the Italian media.
The former Chelsea defender is within the final year of his contract, and he is expected to leave the San Siro before the transfer window closes.
Newspaper the Corriere Dello Sport claim that the Magpies have recently made an enquiry for Tomori, but they are not the only Premier League club interested in the player.
Frank Lampard has worked with the England international during his spells as head coach at Derby and Chelsea, and he also wants him at Coventry City.
Tomori has more suitors
While the Corriere Dello Sport only mention Coventry as a potential rival for the Magpies, a trusted West Ham insider, ExWHUEmployee, says the Hammers, Leeds and Crystal Palace are also in the mix to buy the 28-year-old, along with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
You wouldn’t think that West Ham would pose much of a threat, considering they are in the Championship, but he says Tomori would prefer a “return to London”.
That may potentially make Palace the favourites for the centre-back’s signature, but manager Eddie Howe may be hoping to persuade him into moving further north.

Do Newcastle need another centre-back?
Howe can already call upon the likes of Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn as options in the middle of defence.
However, Botman is injury-prone, and neither Schar nor Burn are getting any younger. They are both 34 years of age.
Having another option like Tomori could prove to be beneficial, and he is unlikely to cost a lot based on the short amount of time left on his contract.
