Reports are beginning to gather pace on Liverpool’s interest in Bradley Barcola after France’s World Cup campaign came to an end with a 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place playoff.
The Paris Saint-Germain attacker has been a Liverpool target for nearly two years now. Last summer, the Merseysiders had a bid rejected by PSG and were told he was not for sale under any circumstances.
Things have changed a year on, however, as PSG have been unsuccessful in their attempts to tie the 23-year-old down to a new contract and with his terms expiring in 2028, this is their last chance to earn a truly memorable fee for his services.
PSG’s asking price has been reported as being somewhere in the range of £85m to £128m. That’s quite the range, but the most reliable outlet that has covered his valuation is The Athletic, who claim he is rated at around £116m.
Liverpool have the money to afford this, but it’s more a question of whether or not the Reds believe he is worth that much.
Latest reports on Barcola to Liverpool
A couple of days ago, a respected source on X provided an update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Barcola: “Our sources state that Liverpool are in club-to-club talks with PSG regarding Bradley Barcola. We understand an opening bid has been submitted. No bid from Arsenal as of yet.”
French publication RMC Sport (via The Evening Standard) has claimed that Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City ‘have been offered the chance to sign’ the winger.
Now, journalist Sebastien Vidal claims that Liverpool “are stepping up the attack on the Bradley Barcola file.”
He stated: “The Reds are preparing an imminent offer, estimated at £85M to try to convince PSG to let go of the 23-year-old French winger, who has had another standout season. The English club is making him one of its top offensive priorities for the summer.”
Time will tell if there is any credence to this claim, but it does stand to reason that given Barcola is no longer tied up with his international duty at the World Cup that he will be more free to sort out his club future.
