Liverpool's new manager, Andoni Iraola, has included four teenagers of Nigerian descent in his travelling squad for the club's tour of the United States, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Liverpool flew out from John Lennon Airport on Monday afternoon for their pre-season training camp in Chicago, with four Nigeria-eligible youngsters — Josh Abe, Rio Ngumoha, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Josh Sonni-Lambie — named in the 31-man travelling squad.
Ngumoha, 17, has already established himself as a first-team player, while Abe, Ndukwe and Sonni-Lambie are part of the club's academy setup.
However, all three are eligible to feature for the senior side in the Premier League under the competition's U21 registration rules.
Abe, Ndukwe and Sonni-Lambie have been included in the pre-season squad to bolster the numbers, with several first-team stars yet to report after representing their countries at the recently concluded 2026 World Cup.
Abe, 16, signed a scholarship deal with Liverpool this summer and scored eight goals while providing three assists in ten U18 Premier League appearances during his final season as a schoolboy.
Sonni-Lambie, the winner of Liverpool's U18 Goal of the Season award, was also nominated for the 2025-26 U18 Premier League Player of the Season after scoring 21 goals.
The 2008-born centre-back, Ndukwe, completed his move from Austria Vienna during the off-season, earning a transfer to the Premier League giants after starring for Austria at last year's Fifa U17 World Cup.
Liverpool will face Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds United across three states in North America over the next fortnight.
