Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell Arrested In Shocking Scene
Bell was taken into custody after signing autographs at Belden Village Mall near Canton, in Jackson Township. In connection with unpaid child support, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star was booked into the Stark County Jail.
In an article published by TMZ Sports, Bell is alleged to have owed more than $50,000 in child support. The payments were originally based on Bell’s former NFL earnings, even though he has not earned that salary in years, according to his attorney, Thomas Shaffer.
“We’re told Le’Veon intends on explaining his predicament to the judge,” TMZ notes, “but the judge will also be well aware that just last year, Le’Veon was ordered to pay $25 million as a default judgment after failing to appear in court for a 2024 sexual abuse case.”
Jordan Miller, a local reporter, reported that Bell remained in jail as of Monday morning. A TMZ source reported that Bell used all of his $50,000 NFL pension to pay child support. In addition, Bell plans to provide a judge with an explanation of his financial situation, saying current support obligations are not based on his current income.
From 2013 to 2021, the 34-year-old played for the Steelers, Jets, Chiefs, Ravens, and Buccaneers. During his NFL career, he was selected to three Pro Bowls and two First-Team All-Pro teams. In 96 games, he accumulated 9,843 yards from scrimmage and 51 touchdowns.
