The World Cup has concluded, with Victor Munoz’s Spain defeating Alexis Mac Allister’s Argentina in the final. The tournament dominated the summer calendar, slowing transfer activity across Europe.
With Spain forward Munoz currently Liverpool’s only summer signing, activity is expected to increase as pre-season gets underway. Andoni Iraola has started working with his squad, with the Reds travelling to the United States this week.

The new head coach spoke to the media for the first time last week and made it clear he hopes the club can strengthen the squad further.
Bradley Barcola remains one of the leading names linked with a move to Anfield, but several other targets continue to be mentioned. According to LFC Academy, Liverpool have taken 17-year-old goalkeeper Michael Mullen on trial during pre-season.
The former Kilmarnock youngster, who was released by the Scottish Premiership club at the end of last season, featured for Liverpool Under-18s in Saturday’s friendly against Crewe Alexandra, playing the first half.
Liverpool Under-18s began their 2026-27 pre-season campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Crewe Alexandra. The young Reds fell behind after just seven minutes when Lucas Swann converted a penalty for the visitors.
Erik Farkas and Finn Inglethorpe both had opportunities to level the score during the opening 30-minute period, while goalkeeper James Hilditch made a sharp save at close range to keep Liverpool within touching distance at the break.
Liverpool pushed for an equaliser after the restart, with La’more Lee Forrester, Luca Eden and Zak Coxon all coming close. However, Crewe extended their advantage when Zane Whelan finished from close range.
Coxon later saw an effort cleared off the line, while Charlie Phillips struck the post as Liverpool continued to create chances but were unable to find a way back into the game.
Michael Mullen had been involved in Kilmarnock’s first-team setup, training with the senior squad on several occasions and travelling with them for the match against Celtic last season. He also gained senior experience during a loan spell with Girvan FC in 2025.
