Leicester City continued their preparations for the 2026-27 League One season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Burton Albion on Saturday.
Kirsten Otchere, Will Alves and Nathan Opoku were all on target in Staffordshire as Russell Martin’s side followed up previous pre-season wins over Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers.

The Foxes will now travel to Spain, where they face Cadiz on Wednesday before taking on Malaga three days later ahead of the upcoming Sky Bet League One campaign.
Off the pitch, Leicester’s proposed move for former Liverpool striker Danny Ings is no longer expected to go ahead, according to LeicestershireLive.
The 33-year-old, who became a free agent after leaving Sheffield United at the end of June, was expected to sign a one-year deal at the King Power Stadium.
However, negotiations have stalled and Leicester are now expected to look elsewhere for a striker. Conor Chaplin and Alex McCarthy remain the club’s only confirmed summer signings, while Martin is continuing his search for attacking reinforcements. Otchere and Opoku have both impressed in pre-season, scoring in wins over Bristol Rovers and Burton Albion.
Plymouth Argyle forward Lorent Tolaj had been linked with Leicester but is now expected to join Bristol City, while Leyton Orient striker Dom Ballard remains another reported target.
Danny Ings made 23 Championship appearances last season and has played 240 Premier League matches across spells with Liverpool, Southampton, Aston Villa and West Ham United.
Ings joined Liverpool on a free transfer in 2015 but suffered a serious knee injury during one of Jurgen Klopp’s first training sessions as manager.
A second major injury within 12 months severely disrupted his time at Anfield before he revived his career at Southampton, earning a move to Aston Villa in 2021.
Leicester, meanwhile, are preparing for life in League One after suffering back-to-back relegations, with the 2015-16 Premier League champions aiming to rebuild under Russell Martin and secure an immediate return to the Championship. Leicester begin their 2026-27 League One campaign with an away trip to Notts County on August 15.
