President says his club will be"ready"if€100m LFC midfield target leaves

**Liverpool are working on making more signings even if the 2026 summer transfer window has started a bit slower than many had hoped.**

While it’s vital that Liverpool increase their options out wide in attack, there are several areas of the squad that it would be irresponsible not to invest in this summer.

Midfield is a need, but so too is central defence. Jeremy Jacquet has arrived, but so too has Ibrahima Konate left. Liverpool need another central defender to have the depth necessary to get through the long slog of another season.

Rumours have recently sprung up surrounding Alexis Mac Allister, with claims in Spain suggesting the Argentine now sees his future outside the Premier League after spells with Brighton and Liverpool.

If the 2026 World Cup finalist does leave, then the need for a midfielder will increase tenfold.

One name that fans and journalists alike have said is perfect for Liverpool is Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi. The Moroccan teenager impressed hugely in the World Cup this summer, showcasing his ability to compete on the biggest stage.

Liverpool chances of signing Bouaddi rest on Lille willingness to sell which is not presenting itself at the moment

Liverpool are competing with the likes of Arsenal for Bouaddi’s signature, but Lille president Oliver Letang has said that he thinks it’s likely that the 19-year-old will spend another season in France.

_“Everything remains possible, but in my opinion, he should stay with us for one more season,”_ Letang told [L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Article/-ayyoub-devrait-rester-une-saison-de-plus-avec-nous-le-president-du-losc-olivier-letang-evoque-l-avenir-d-ayyoub-bouaddi-convoite-par-arsenal-et-manchester-city/1704808).

“_I am convinced that there is a very good chance that he will stay with us. And he would be very happy to do so._

_“We are very calm, like Ayyoub. We will take stock depending on what happens in the coming weeks._

_“After that, you are right, we have to be prepared for all eventualities. If he leaves, we have to be ready.”_

Liverpool will also likely baulk at the €100m Lille are demanding to sell Bouaddi. The 2026 midfield market is an absolute mess, and it makes it arguable that if Liverpool do not sign any of their midfield targets, it will be a wise move.
