There isn't another player in the NBA quite like Matisse Thybulle.
And that only cost the Los Angeles Lakers $3.3 million to sign him to a one-year contract on Monday.

Thybulle's name is likely vaguely familiar to NBA fans, but he's a guy worth knowing for everyone who rocks the purple and gold, because his skillset is one of a kind.

Who is Matisse Thybulle?
Thybulle is a 29-year old wing originally from Arizona who played his college basketball at the University of Washington.
He was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and began his career with parts of four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers before spending parts of four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Defense is his super power.
Thybulle is listed at 6-foot-5, but it feels like he has Inspector Gadget-level arms.
He has averaged 20 minutes per game in his NBA career, and still he has put up 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
He has made two All-Defense teams.
Each of the past two seasons, Thybulle has averaged more than two steals per game.
His issue is offense -- he has averaged just 5.0 points and 1.1 assists per game.
But in the last two years, he shot 43.8% and 39.8% from 3-point range. If he does anything like that while providing disruptive defense, Thybulle can be a huge bargain for the Lakers.
