Christos Tzolis to Arsenal is now one of the biggest stories of the summer window. The Gunners have moved quickly after Leandro Trossard’s exit, and the Greek winger is now closing in on a Premier League return as talks reach the final stage.
Arsenal move quickly for Tzolis
The Gunners have taken a big step towards signing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. As reported by Sky Sports, the Premier League champions have agreed a deal worth around £34M, which would become a record sale for the Belgian Pro League. The winger is expected to replace Leandro Trossard after the Belgian completed his move to Besiktas.
As reported by BBC Sport, Arsenal first stepped up their interest after Trossard’s departure. Sporting director Andrea Berta has been leading the move, while his assistant Maurizio Micheli watched Tzolis during Greece’s recent international matches. The report adds that a formal offer and medical are expected to follow, with personal terms not expected to cause any problems. The 24-year-old also made it clear that Arsenal was his preferred destination once interest became serious. That helped talks move forward quickly.

Tzolis arrives after enjoying an outstanding season in Belgium. He won the league title with Club Brugge this season. He plays well, and this also earned him the Belgian Pro League Player of the Year award. As reported by The Standard, Arsenal believe he has the quality to strengthen the attack immediately. The deal is close to being completed after both clubs reached an agreement over the transfer fee.
The Greek international previously played in England with Norwich City before rebuilding his career through spells in Germany and Belgium. He also said “He will show also on highest level in Premier League and Champions League in Arsenal that is top player, that he absolutely deserves to go to be there.”The Premier League football club still hope to add more attacking quality before the new season begins. However, Tzolis looks set to become one of their first major arrivals of the summer.
His ability to play on both the wings, score goals and create chances gives Mikel Arteta another strong option in attack. If the final paperwork is completed as expected, the Greek forward could soon begin training with his new teammates before the start of the new season.
