Former Pittsburgh Steelers player and Masked Singer contestant Le’Veon Bell was arrested July 19 in Ohio.
Bell, who lives in California, was arrested on charges related to child support payments.
The former running back competed on The Masked Singer celebrity competition series in 2022.
Former NFL star and The Masked Singer contestant Le’Veon Bell was arrested Sunday in Ohio on charges related to a child support case originating in Michigan, Entertainment Weekly learns from authorities.
Local police tell EW that Bell, 34, who competed as Milkshake on The Masked Singer season 8 in 2022, was arrested July 19 by Jackson Township police on a warrant issued by officials in Michigan, with authorities receiving information that Bell would appear in the Canton, Ohio area for an autograph signing at the Belden Village Mall.
Bell was arrested by officer William Garrett at 3:33 p.m. local time, according to an arrest report obtained by EW, with the report also confirming that Bell currently resides in Van Nuys, Calif.
“Mr. Le’Veon Bell was arrested for a full extradition warrant out of the state of Michigan. Mr. Bell was transported to Stark County Jail for booking on the warrant,” the report reads.
EW additionally confirms with local authorities that Bell is still in Ohio’s Stark County Jail. He was reportedly arrested on charges related to allegedly not paying child support in full, with authorities in Michigan issuing an arrest warrant as Bell has a child in that state, per The Canton Repository.

The former NFL star’s lawyer, Thomas Shaffer, told TMZ that Bell’s child support payment structure is based on his salary as a major football player, and that he doesn’t earn the same income as he did during his prime in the league.
EW has reached out to a legal representative for Bell as well as to the Michigan Attorney General’s office for comment on the NFL star’s arrest.
Bell was previously arrested for driving under the influence in 2014, for which he was sentenced to 15 months of probation in 2015.
Speaking on the 2014 arrest and sentencing, Bell told local Pittsburgh news station WPXI at the time: “As I continue to get older and more mature, I’m just going to continue to strive and be that role model.”
He continued, “I know I definitely can never be in a situation like that again,” Bell said. “Or anything else like that.”
He was further ordered by an Ohio jury in 2025 to pay $25 million to a female relative who alleged that he sexually abused her.
“My client adamantly denies any and all allegations that have been lodged against him. Further, he was never served with a civil complaint or any documents,” Bell’s lawyer said at the time. “The default judgment granted was based upon violations of his Fifth Amendment rights of due process for failing to be served. My client is in the process of filing a motion to open and reverse the default judgment because the narratives of the case have never been litigated.”
