The Green Bay Packers have signed former first-round pick Devonte Wyatt to a three-year, $57 million contract that includes a $20 million signing bonus, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Wyatt was one of the few starters remaining on the 2026 roster who were going into a contract year this year, as he was set to play on a fifth-year option this season.
For what it’s worth, the contract that has frequently been floated as a Wyatt comparison was the deal that John Franklin-Myers signed in free agency this year. Franklin-Myers, like Wyatt, is more of a contributor as a pass-rusher than as an overall defensive tackle. Franklin-Myers signed a three-year, $63 million deal with the Tennessee Titans. Wyatt’s deal comes $2 million per year under the Franklin-Myers number, but still in roughly the same ballpark.
Franklin-Myers also only received a $12 million signing bonus, but had $42 million in total guarantees on his deal. Generally, the Packers only guarantee players money in the form of a signing bonus, with the major exceptions being quarterbacks and their deal with superstar Micah Parsons.
On paper, this seems to be a little lower on the “average per year” front than we expected but significantly lower in terms of guaranteed money.
Full details of the contract have yet to be announced, but there’s a good chance this three-year deal goes on top of Wyatt’s 2026 season, meaning that he’ll be under contract through the 2029 season.
With Wyatt out of the way, the only full-time starters left going into the 2026 season who don’t have multi-year deals are cornerback Keisean Nixon and tight end Tucker Kraft. A Kraft extension is a no-brainer, while it seems pretty unlikely that the Packers will give Nixon, who turns 30 this week, any significant long-term contract.
