US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that it will face severe consequences for every American service member killed, following the deaths of three US soldiers and the disappearance of another during the ongoing confrontation with Tehran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said, “Every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay a heavy price,” adding that the directive had been communicated to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Keane, and senior military commanders.
The warning came after Washington announced over the weekend that three additional US service members had been killed, while a fourth remained missing in action, further intensifying tensions between the two countries.
Trump’s statement signals a tougher US response as military exchanges between Washington and Tehran continue, with both sides engaged in escalating attacks across the region.
The latest deaths add to growing concerns that continued retaliation could widen the conflict and draw more regional actors into the confrontation.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further escalation, with mediators pushing for a ceasefire and renewed negotiations between the United States and Iran. However, the killing of US personnel has increased pressure on Washington to respond forcefully.
