With or without LeBron James, the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to need more out of Anthony Edwards & Co. this season. LaMelo Ball will have to make better decisions and display more consistency than he did in Charlotte, as well.
But as the days go on and we get closer to LeBron’s latest “Decision”, it’s feeling less and less likely the 23-year NBA veteran is around the Twin Cities to help this new-look Wolves team get up on its feet.
Unofficial: LeBron James isn’t coming to Minnesota
Over the weekend, Anthony Edwards went viral for admitting he had little hope, seeing as the Timberwolves don’t appear to be in LeBron’s top 3. There were questions over whether he got that directly from LeBron.
Regardless, the latest report out of ESPN from insider Shams Charania seemed to confirm what we probably already knew — that Minnesota is on the outside, looking in, when it comes to LeBron’s next team.
There is still no timetable for LeBron to announce his decision, per @ShamsCharania

“Everyone in the NBA is waiting on LeBron’s decision. I spoke to Rich Paul, his longtime agent, this morning. And Rich Paul made it clear to me that the choice is LeBron James’ right now. It’s up to him on which team he wants to play for. All the information is in.
Teams are set, everyone has made their move. There is no decision yet, no timetable on a choice, as of yet. But we know the teams — Cleveland, Miami, Philadelphia, Golden State, Minnesota all are waiting on this. This has a domino effect around the league with other free agents, as well.
My understanding though, over the last couple of weeks, is that the focus has been primarily on the Eastern Conference teams, being Cleveland, Miami and Philadelphia, and we all continue to wait.”

Time to move on, Tim
Look, I like to think I believe in miracles just as much as the next red-blooded American in this country.
But if MN Timberwolves president of basketball of operations Tim Connelly is holding up other moves because he’s waiting for LeBron James… then it’s clearly time for him to throw in the towel and move on Minnesota’s offseason life.

Landing the 41-year-old, 4x MVP was never going to be easy for a team like Minnesota, and per usual, Tim gave it a valiant effort. But when Ant couldn’t help get LeBron’s attention, this matter was good as dead. even tried to help reel in LeBron.
Now that this has been going on for months, it’s become pretty clear that James is not coming here, even if the Wolves continue to receive shoutouts by insiders like Shams.
