Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell arrested in Ohio

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was arrested Sunday in Canton, Ohio according to a report from the Canton Repository.

Bell was arrested for unpaid child support.

The case originated in Michigan, where the child lives, his attorney, Thomas Shaffer of Pennsylvania, told FOX 8 News.

Shaffer told FOX 8 News the 34-year-old owes more than $50,000 in child support, which he is now struggling to pay since leaving the NFL.

“In January Le’Veon cashed in part of his NFL pension and paid $50,000 in child support as a good faith effort,” Shaffer said. “Unfortunately, every month, there is accruals of substantial amount of money that takes it above the threshold, which then puts it in a criminal court where they issue a bench warrant.”

Bell played eight seasons in the NFL after being a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Steelers. He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Steelers before skipping the 2018 season because of a contract dispute.
