GREEN BAY, Wis. — The ink is drying on yet another contract extension out of Green Bay.
The Packers and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt on Monday agreed to a three-year deal worth $57 million dollars, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The contact is also equipped worth $20 million guaranteed. Wyatt's figure of $19 million per year places him as the No. 18 highest-paid player amongst his peers at the position.
Wyatt is the fifth player to receive a contract extension from the Packers this offseason, joining wide receivers Jayden Reed and Christian Watson, starting center Sean Rhyan, and linebacker Isaiah McDuffie. He's also the fourth player from general manager Brian Gutekunst's 2022 draft class to receive a second contract from the team, joining Watson, Reed, and right tackle Zach Tom.

The Packers are hoping for more of the same from Wyatt, a former first-round pick. But the expectation is that he should continue on an upward trajectory into 2026, especially now that he's paired with a savvy veteran in Javon Hargrave, who signed with the Packers in free agency. The 28-year-old Wyatt will first have to prove that he's healthy and remain that way, however.
Wyatt sustained a significant, season-ending lower-leg injury—a fractured fibula with multiple torn ligaments—in the Packers' Thanksgiving win over the Detroit Lions. His year was cut short after playing in just 10 games, but even so, he still finished the season with at least four sacks for the third consecutive year. The Packers evidently feel comfortable with where he is in his recovery, otherwise they presumably would've waited until they were able to see him in action post-injury before signing him to a long-term deal.
Quality defensive tackles are hard to come by, and the Packers didn't want to pigeonhole themselves into needing one next spring. Wyatt was entering the final year of his rookie deal after having his fifth-year option picked up last offseason, so he'll now be under contract with the Packers through 2029.
Wyatt has blossomed into a tremendous pass-rushing asset for the Packers' defensive line. Prior to his injury, he accumulated 22 pressures through 10 games, giving him 102 across the last three seasons. He figures to be a key component for new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon once he's integrated back into the lineup. There's no timetable for Wyatt's return, but the expectation is that he'll be ready by the start of training camp next week.
