In what appeared to be a rather slow news day following an exciting World Cup tournament, ESPN decided to spice things up and part ways with former NFL Pro Bowler Ryan Clark this afternoon.
This, of course, came as a shocker to fans who regularly watch ESPN’s weekly shows, as the 2008 Super Bowl Champion is a regular guest on First Take and Get Up.
As one of ESPN’s leading NFL analysts, Clark will leave a big hole to fill in programming, but, as The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand noted, the company will save almost $2 million per year by making this move.

Playing for the New York Giants, Washington, and Pittsburgh franchises, Clark’s NFL career lasted 13 seasons after going undrafted in 2002.
Spending eight years with the Steelers, Clark played some of his best football in the Steel City, collecting a Super Bowl ring during the 2008 season and being selected to his one Pro Bowl in 2011.
Making the transition from player to analyst, Clark certainly grinded his way up the totem pole to become a mainstay on regular ESPN programming.
His hard work would also come to fruition in 2023 when Clark was selected for a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Studio Analyst.

For now, there is no clear direction for where the NFL analyst will be heading to cover the 2026 NFL season.
However, as a host of The Pivot podcast alongside Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor, Clark will likely shed more light on his future and where he will be covering football in the next few weeks.
