Deebo Samuel could become one of the most intriguing names to watch as NFL training camps approach, with one analyst predicting the veteran wide receiver will land with the Los Angeles Rams. The projection links the former All-Pro to a Super Bowl contender searching for additional playmakers as it pushes toward another championship run in the 2026 season.
The prediction centers on the Rams’ desire to strengthen a receiving corps led by Puka Nacua and veteran Davante Adams. While both receivers provide proven production, Los Angeles lacks experienced depth behind its top two options after limited contributions from the rest of the position group last season. Adding another established playmaker would give the offense greater flexibility while providing insurance against injuries during a long campaign.

Samuel’s versatility makes him an appealing fit in Sean McVay’s offensive system. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the ability to line up both at wide receiver and in the backfield, creating matchup problems through his physical running style and ability to gain yards after the catch. His unique skill set would allow the Rams to expand their offensive package while creating additional opportunities for explosive plays.
Familiarity could also work in Samuel’s favor if Los Angeles decides to pursue him. The Rams faced him twice each season during his six-year tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, giving the coaching staff firsthand knowledge of the challenges he presents when healthy. That experience may provide confidence that his talents can still make a meaningful impact within an offense built on creativity and versatility.

Slightly-less-bold: They’ll bring in a wideout to work with and provide insurance for Puka Nacua and 33-year-old Davante Adams. No other receiver on the roster caught 20 passes or scored more than a touchdown in 2025, and the Rams must know that they need something else there in what appears to be an all-in campaign.
That could mean Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Samuel, or a less glorified but familiar veteran like Josh Reynolds. I’m predicting it’s Samuel because I get the sense they don’t want to risk inviting the distractions that could come with Diggs and Hill, and I think Samuel is an ideal fit as a versatile addition to Sean McVay’s creative offense.
The Rams saw a lot of Samuel during his six-year run in the NFC West. I wouldn’t be shocked if they were to find a way to bring in the 30-year-old former star on a one-year contract.
A short-term contract could benefit both sides. Samuel would receive an opportunity to reestablish his value with a legitimate contender, while the Rams could address one of their few remaining roster concerns without making a long-term financial commitment. The arrangement would fit an organization focused on maximizing its championship window while surrounding its veteran core with experienced contributors.
Although no deal has materialized, Samuel remains one of the most accomplished receivers available as training camp draws closer. If the prediction ultimately becomes reality, the Rams could add another dynamic weapon to an already dangerous offense while giving Samuel an opportunity to play a significant role in another pursuit of a Super Bowl title.
