There was a ton of pushback on the Buffalo Bills when it was learned that they traded a 2nd-round pick to acquire wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears. When the initial news broke that the Bills were trading for Moore, there was so much excitement because the Bills had finally made a splash for a No. 1 receiver for Josh Allen.
Sure, a 2nd-round pick isn’t cheap, but considering the fact that the Bills are Super Bowl contenders, draft picks don’t mean as much as they would to a team that is rebuilding.
Let’s not forget either, the Bills ended up making two 2nd round selections after making various trades during the draft. So, the Bills essentially got an upgrade at wide receiver and still managed to have the picks to upgrade the roster.
With Moore stepping into this offense, he gets a huge upgrade with Allen as his quarterback, yet he gets familiarity with Joe Brady from their days with the Carolina Panthers. In their two years working together, Moore managed to record back-to-back 1,100+ yard seasons and 8 touchdowns. Now that Brady is running the show, and will still be calling the plays in Buffalo, there's no reason why Moore shouldn't get back to that production.
Bills fans are hoping DJ Moore prediction is spot on in 2026
Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently put together a list of bold predictions for each team with training camp set to start here soon, and Scataglia’s prediction for the Bills will have fans realizing that the beloved 2nd-round pick that Buffalo traded for Moore would be easily forgotten about.
Scataglia is predicting that Moore will lead the NFL in receiving yards, which would make him the first Bills receiver since Stefon Diggs to do so in 2020 (1,535 yards).
"In the 2023 season, when DJ Moore was still on the Chicago Bears, and when Justin Fields was his main quarterback, Moore finished with 1.364 yards, which was good for 6th in the NFL. That was with a bottom-7 quarterback in the NFL at the time throwing him the ball." said Scataglia.
"With Josh Allen now his quarterback, the best that Moore as ever played with, he'll throw it back a few seasons and get back to his normal, productive self, not only breaking the 1,000-yard mark, but leading the entire league in receiving yards." Scataglia added.
To Scataglia’s point, Moore was highly productive with a quarterback who is now a backup in Kansas City. With getting Allen as his quarterback now, I would not put it past the idea of Moore being as productive as Diggs was in his first year with the Bills.
Even though the Bills have other weapons like Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir, them bringing in Moore gives fans an idea of what the offense will look like as far as the passing attack.
