Here's when LeBron James has to make a decision by

LeBron James has the NBA on hold.

His free agency is ongoing, and even commissioner Adam Silver acknowledged that the league has to wait on certain parts of its schedule to see where the King signs.

A lot of teams still have hope, seemingly led by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors, with potential dark horses also in the mix like the Minnesota Timberwolves.

But NBA free agency opened on July 1, and LeBron is still a free agent as the clock concludes on July 20.

At this point, it's anyone's guess when he might sign.

Patrick Beverley, and some other social media accounts, suggested it would happen on Monday. It didn't.

So now what? There's got to be an end in sight, right?

When does LeBron James have to make his free agent decision?

In reality, LeBron could wait as long as he wants.

Obviously, some teams will fill roster spots with other guys, and that could limit his options.

But there's no deadline, per se.

James could sign today, or tomorrow, or the next day.

He could also sign on Halloween, or Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

If he wants to wait until midseason and only need the tank for half a season of basketball, he could do that.

There's no indication that he'll wait that long, but that's just to make the point: LeBron truly has control here. He can wait as long as he wants.
